- The Mumbai Pune Expressway: The Mumbai Pune Expressway is the major road connecting Mumbai and Pune.

- Traffic Congestion: The expressway sees heavy traffic, leading to congestion and long travel times.
- Impact on Trade and Commerce: The lack of an efficient connection between the two cities has been hampering trade and commerce.
The Key Features of the Project
- Widening the Expressway: The existing expressway is being widened from two to three lanes on either side.
- Bridge Construction: The project includes the construction of several bridges and flyovers to ease congestion and provide alternate routes.
- Tunnel Construction: The project also involves the Construction of two Tunnels and one Wire Bridge to provide faster travel times through the Western Ghats.
